Enemies |
In Feudal Alloy, you can face various fish-controlled and hamster-controlled enemies who can make scrap out of Attu in a few hits. It is important to use every advantage you have in order to overcome these threats. You will meet six kinds of enemies: hedgehog, crab, wasp, saw guy, helicopter, and beetle. Each of them has its own set of strengths and weaknesses as well as a strategy on how to effectively take them out. Hedgehog ![]()
The basic version of the hedgehog does not attack and only makes a strange sound. The only way for it to damage you is if you have touched it, so only contact damage. It can be located on the ground but also on the walls in a way for you to jump into it. The electric version attacks by emitting an electric wave around it, which will activate when you get near it, and the red grenade version will throw grenades from a distance. The hedgehog covered with diamond crystals cannot be hurt by the sword or special attacks like electric wave/punch, but it can be damaged with Molotovs or shock grenades, or, alternatively, activate the electromagnetic pulse module (block + down) and then shatter it with a sword.
The hedgehog version with black armor and red stripes, like the diamond version above, cannot be damaged with a sword, and you will have to use ice grenades, shock grenades, or activate the electromagnetic pulse module (block + down), which makes it vulnerable. However, you still need to take into account that it has much more health than its base version, so it will be more difficult to kill. All hedgehogs can be jumped over or dashed through. Crab ![]()
The basic and armored versions of the crab do not attack and only damage you when you touch them. However, since it moves, this is not such a problem for them. The armored version, when it sees you, usually goes to the edge of the platform and stands there, making it impossible for you to enter the platform and use the electromagnetic pulse (block + down), unless you are close enough, but you can use the ice grenades and shock grenades for the black armor version or Molotovs and shock grenades for the diamond version. The red type can surprise you since it can jump between platforms and attack you from above and below. The large grenade version will usually stay away from you and keep throwing grenades at you; it also has higher health than the rest of the crabs.
Wasp ![]()
The wasps attack with their stinger. They usually attack from above, so it is better to use an upward attack (up arrow + attack) to strike them before they can hit you. However, if the wasp is coming from the side, the upward attack will not hit it, so keep that in mind. You can use grenades to damage them from a distance, but it will require you to hold the throw button to arc it correctly and time it well. Once you get the electric wave/punch modules, you can shoot them down with special attacks, which will make dealing with the wasps much easier. The wasps have 3 differently sized versions, described above as basic, large, and giant, that have more health and deal more damage. The diamond version and black armor with red stripes cannot be hurt with the sword or special attacks like electric wave/punch, but they can be damaged with Molotovs in the case of the diamond version and with ice grenades in the case of the black armor one. On both versions, shock grenades will work, or, alternatively, activate the electromagnetic pulse module (block + down). When they are stunned, the wasp will remain suspended in the air.
Saw Guy ![]()
Saw Guy attacks using rotating saws attached to his arms, which deal a lot of damage, so evading his attacks is crucial for your survival. The saws can attack you from above when standing slightly higher than you, but you can attack from below. Conversely, you and Saw Guy cannot attack each other if you stand above Saw Guy's head, even in the situation when the saws reach where you are standing. Saw Guy has a larger version that has more health and deals more damage; this larger version cannot be jumped over but has to be dashed through. Like every enemy, Saw Guy, covered in white diamond crystals, cannot be damaged by sword attacks or special attacks like electric wave/punch, but it can be damaged with Molotovs or shock grenades, or, alternatively, activate the electromagnetic pulse module (block + down).
Similarly, the black-armored version of the Saw Guy cannot be hurt by swords or special attacks. However, it can be frozen with an ice grenade or stunned with a shock grenade or by activating the electromagnetic pulse module, which makes it vulnerable. Nonetheless, you still need to take into account that it has much more health than its basic version, so it will be more difficult to kill. There are also special versions of the Saw Guy with the shield; this version has two sizes and cannot be hurt from the front, where it has a shield. It can only be attacked from behind, which means either doing one attack and then running away or stunning the Saw Guy with an ice grenade, shock grenade, or an electromagnetic pulse, which quite often causes the Saw Guy to turn his shield towards you anyway, so you need to jump over or dash through it. Helicopter ![]()
All helicopter types attack by throwing grenades. These annoying enemies will always try to fly higher and keep their distance to avoid being hit. You will quickly find out that hitting them with your sword in open space is doable, but it will be a tough ordeal. You can use grenades to damage them from a distance, but it will require you to hold the throw button to arc it correctly and time it well. Once you get the electric wave/punch modules, you can shoot them down with special attacks, which will make dealing with the helicopters much easier.
They can also be lured into a low corridor or under a ledge, where they will get stuck and cannot fly higher, so you can finish them off with the sword. The size and color of the helicopter determine how many hits it can withstand. That being said, due to the low throwing rate of grenades and plenty of time to avoid them, the helicopters are not top priority when dealing with multiple enemies and are usually left as the last one to destroy. Beetle ![]()
The hulking brute controlled by the hamster is the largest standard enemy you will encounter and practically serves as a mini-boss. It's equipped with the giant sword, which will deal a lot of damage, but its attacks are slower and widely telegraphed. The basic version of the beetle only attacks with a sword. However, it is very large and can attack you even if it is standing further away and/or slightly higher. An early strategy to deal with this enemy is to abuse the range and environment, especially the high ground, and use it to attack it while this robot won't retaliate. The large blue version will shoot bouncing grenades at you, which will jump around even when the beetle is dead, but you can block them; just keep in mind to face them correctly. The large black armor version is the ultimate beetle; it will throw grenades at you from a distance while approaching you with its enormous sword. It cannot be hurt (without a stun) by the sword or special attacks like electric wave/punch, but it can be damaged and stunned with the ice grenades or shock grenades, or, alternatively, activate the electromagnetic pulse module (block + down) and then attack it with a sword. The larger versions of the beetle have more health, deal more damage, and cannot be jumped over but have to be dashed through.
At first they are better approached carefully and slowly picked apart, as avoiding being hit is the best strategy when dealing with this enemy. When you get the timing right, you can dash through its sword swings, strike the beetle, and dash through the next swing again until it dies. Alternatively, you can bombard it with electric waves, once you obtain the module, and destroy it from afar. |
